V8 Alpha launched in preview on March 17, 2026 and Relax mode for V8 Alpha was added March 21, 2026. The alpha is accessible to all subscribers but is not yet the default model. Current subscriber testing suggests V8 pushes photorealism and coherence further again, though full analysis requires waiting for general availability. All existing plan subscribers get access with no upgrade required.
No free tier exists. Midjourney removed its permanent free trial in 2023 and occasional limited free access windows are not reliably available. Budget $10 per month minimum to evaluate it properly.
